Black At The Opera With Rodney Clarke
Winner of the prestigious Young Baritone of the Year Award and
graduate of the Royal Academy Rodney Clarke has made a considerable
impact on British opera. Since he graduated from the Royal Academy of
Music. One of very few famous Black opera singers Clarke recently
completed Carmen Jones at the Royal Festival Hall and La Traviata at
the Birmingham Opera House. Tonight he talks to Lambeth school children
about his inspiring career in classical music and discusses with the
audience the history of Black people in classical music. Black At The

At the age of ten, Paul’s great-great-great-grandfather, John Alexander
Crooks, was captured and put aboard a slave ship bound for Jamaica.
Ancestors is the fictionalised account of John’s experiences from 1798
to 1838, and follows two captives whose lives remain entwined, their
