A Positive Influence

Africa has always exerted a strong positive influence upon the world through the vitality of its culture and achievements, despite attempts to undermine and demean it.

There is much to set right, reinstate, remember and celebrate. In this context, it is important that Africa remains at the heart of Black History Month.

In recognition of a shared experience of colonialism and racism worldwide, Norfolk Black History Month has chosen to also embrace the cultures of other individuals and communities who identify themselves as Black.
