Don’t Ignore, Explore
The University of Hertfordshire is using this year’s Black History Month to explore and celebrate the contributions, influences and experiences of African, Asian and Caribbean origin with a range of cultural events.
The events, which take place throughout October in the form of film, theatre, debate, lectures and seminars, are focused primarily around exploring the history and heritage of Black origin which can often be misrepresented or ignored.
Touching on Blakploitation are highlights this year that include screenings of ‘Coffey’ and ‘Black Dynamite’, a powerful new play ‘Rivers to Cross’ and a topical debate on the recent London riots.
